MW CANADA is committed to developing economic and novel materials for various applications, especially for water treatment. One of MW's current projects is to develop nylon based materials for oil cleanup, as nylon is a low cost commercial material which has great potential for large-scale applications such as oil spills and treatment of industrial oily wastewater both of which pose great environmental problems. In addition, the complex mesh structure of nylon makes it advantageous for oil cleanup because oil can be potentially trapped within the fabric and/or on the top surface while water flow through the meshes.
