There is currently a great deal of interest in the use of unlicensed frequency bands for cellular system services. The state of the art standard for cellular system transmission is known as LTE. As a result this new system iscommonly referred to as LTE-U. The push for LTE-U is motivated by the great success of cellular servicesbased on smart-phones and the associated shortage of spectrum for cellular systems, and the fact that there is alarge amount of spectrum that has been allocated to WiFi services, especially in the 5 GHz band. However theWiFi community is concerned that the "incursion" of LTE systems into the WiFi unlicensed bands will result indegradation of the quality of WiFi based services. The purpose of this project is to determine the impact of theaddition of these LTE-U services on the WiFi services. The project will introduce various parameters to modelthe behaviour of LTE-U transmissions in the WiFi band and at the same time determine the impact on the WiFiservices.
