Newcrete Investments Limited Partnership is in the process of producing pumpable concrete with low-cementcontent for various applications to provide their customers top quality concrete products at competitive prices.However, their attempts failed to produce pumpable concrete with sufficient workability and/or strength. Themain purpose of this project is to develop novel low-cement concrete mixtures with relatively highcompressive strength, slump, and sufficient pumpability. The project will examine the feasibility of usingviscosity modifying admixtures (VMAs) and supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) to improve thecompressive strength, slump, and pumpability of low-cement content concrete. The research program willconsist of a series of laboratory tests on the slump and compressive strength to determine the optimum dosageand type of both VMAs and SCMs. Some selected successful mixtures will then be tested under full-scalepumping tests at the company's facilities to assess the pumpability followed by a statistical analysis of theresults. The findings of this research will contribute to the company's future applications of low-cement contentpumpable concrete by allowing them to offer high quality products at relatively low cost. This collaborationwill result in a potential growth of the company (additional employees and expanding their product line) and toeventually benefit the Canadian economy.
