In this research project, templates of a variation of electric machine known as synchronous reluctance machinewill be added to the current database of EMWORKS, a Canadian based company specialized in modeling andanalysis of electric machines. The synchronous reluctance machine with its numerous advantages such as lowmanufacturing and maintenance cost and fault tolerance is gaining interest from industry for many applicationssuch as traction and electric vehicles. Therefore, in recent years, several research works have been focused ondesign and modification of synchronous reluctance machines in academy and industry.This research collaboration provides an opportunity for EMWORKS to expand their software. Thus,incorporating a larger group of clients inside Canada and abroad. It is also beneficial to many Canadianresearch groups working on design and application of electric machines in academy and industry to achievetheir design goals faster and with higher accuracy.
