Neurostimulation can improve life of people with some neurology disorders. From few electrodes in the 90s,implants can now handle hundreds and open windows to more complex and faster stimulation strategies. Theocular implant fits very well in this pattern. Currently, implants with more than 200 electrodes exist. Thisnumber is constantly increasing thank to electronics and materials improvements. However, futuredevelopments in this field are facing new challenges. The electrode density requires to embed more and moreelectronics channel in Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) which requires more real estate, morepower and a communication link with a higher data rate and a better efficiency. iBIONICS already have a 256channel ASIC. The Engage plus project will consist in proposing solutions for reducing the current static powerconsumption of the ASIC of 10 mW to less than 1 mW. The works will target the power supply tree andinteractions with a photovoltaic cell that will provide energy to the implant. These innovative works will pavethe way to future ocular prosthesis requirements.
