Irystec Software Inc is introducing the world's first Perceptual Display Processing software engine. This patentpending technology significantly improves all display viewing experiences from smart watches to large screendisplays to cars while reducing display power, improving readability and reducing eye strain. Irystec smartdisplay rendering software provides a substantially improved user-friendly visual display experience andpersonalize the viewing experience to adjust for age and gender, ethnicity or visual acuity. This ENGAGE Plus project is a continuation to our previous ENGAGE in which we developed an integratedalgorithm to modify the displayed content, i.e. brightness, contrast and color, according to the age of the viewerby unifying the age-driven contrast and color adaptation models into a unique model that takes into account thevariability of the CSF and CMF with the age of the viewer. The results obtained from this adaptation werepublished in a conference article and are currently being incorporated into the production software of Irystec. In this new project we aim at expanding the age adaptation by incorporating spatio-temporal saliencyinformation into the model. Saliency is an indicator of visual attention and we intend to include it into theadaptation process in order to optimize the required processing. The most important objective of this project isthe adaptation of the content to improve the power consumption of OLED displays by using saliency and agedependent color/brightness modifications. We will also address the modification of video sequences by usinginformation from saliency to reduce the processing requirements for video sequences.
