A major challenge in the production of display cases for chilled food products is avoiding the build-up of condensation on thedisplay case glass. Current methodologies for limiting condensation are energy intensive, typically requiring the installation ofheaters near the glass, fans, or evaporator units. In addition, the build-up of condensation can create an environment that leads tofood spoilage, and counter to the purpose of the display case, can impede the customers' view of the chilled food products ondisplay. In an effort to inhibit the formation of condensation on display cases for chilled food products that is less energy intensivethan the existing technology, we are proposing to develop a silicone coating that would prevent the glass from fogging up andwould permit the easy removal of any condensed water from the surface of the glass.
