Mineral resources are an important component of Canada's economy and are necessary to support modernsociety. Such resources are, however, difficult to locate and extract efficiently. Red Pine Exploration is asmall Canadian company that is exploring for gold near Wawa, Ontario. Understanding the chemistry of therocks that host the gold is critical to efficient location of gold-rich rocks in this area. The rocks that host thegold have experienced many, overlapping events, leading to chemical complexity. This project is designed tounravel that complexity by carefully studying the minerals in different assemblages at Wawa and carrying outchemical analyses of the minerals using state-of-the-art techniques that allow the chemical character ofminerals to be determined at a microscopic scale. These data will allow Red Pine Exploration to betterunderstand the chemistry of the rocks that host the mineralization and more efficiently vector towards rockswith high gold grades.
