英文摘要
Canfor is a leading integrated forest products company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canfor employsapproximately 7,300 people as well as an additional 2,200 contractors. In 1965, Canfor expanded its operationswith the construction of Prince George Pulp and Paper Mill. Canfor Pulp Ltd. in Prince George contributesover 142,000 tonnes of pulp. This is a continuation of a project funded by an NSERC Engage Grant. The project is to develop a business modeled training game that is capable of educating Canfor Pulp employeesabout the overall view of their work flow and the effects of their decisions in overall operations. The outcomeof this project will be a web-based interactive computer game that is scalable, competitive, engaging, andeducational. The game would model a simplified pulping system that captures the essence of the Canfor Pulpoperation. It will include real-time strategies. There will be a predefined set of management roles for eachdepartment. The player will assume the role of the mill manager and is responsible for the success or failure ofthe mill as the business encounters and overcomes common scenarios. The situations and challenges that arisefor each department will be impacted by the decision made by the player. The player will need to make choicesand decisions to address some typical business operating challenges. The game will generate the challengescommonly encountered and then accept the player's decisions and generate the appropriate results in thebusiness model. The goal is to expose the cause and effect relationship that exists within Canfor Pulp mill.Other features of the game will be the ability to log in and save each state of the game, the competitive rankingof each player against other players, employee access control with Canfor, training the employee's real-timedecision-making abilities, and custom branding.
