The technical objective of this project is to add network hygiene services to the novel cloud-based services developed by Canadian company Beauceron Security Inc. that measure and reduce cyber risk in enterprises. Beauceron is seeking assistance from the New Brunswick Community College - Mobile First Technology Initiative (NBCC-MFTI) to (1) confirm that its architecture and approach is suitable for integrating Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and/or Microsoft MDM with Netflix Stethscope and (2) to develop a plugin that implements this integration. The expected outcome is for network hygiene functionality offered by the open source software Netflix Stethoscope to be added to Beauceron's service offerings. The resulting technology transferred to Beauceron will be a modularized version of Stethoscope that will in effect extend Beauceron's current system to offer network hygiene services. The benefits accrued to Beauceron will be added value to their technology through new network hygiene services and, thereby, an increase in the revenue potential. The benefits accrued to the NBCC-MFTI will be new competencies in cyber security and establishment of a relationship with a company in this vital sector for New Brunswick. The benefits accrued to the discipline of applied cyber security research will be a novel combination of cyber risk and threat reduction capabilities, and the potential to perform empirical research on the benefits of that combination for enterprises.
