英文摘要
Every two minutes one Canadian over the age of 65 will experience a fall-related injury. Frequently this results in hospitalization, loss of independence, or in some cases, death. The goal of the proposed CRC research program is to develop therapeutics that increase muscle strength after injury as a strategy to overcome a risk factor of senior falls. To achieve this goal, Dr. Gilbert will use unbiased screening and hypothesis-driven research to identify molecules that target and rejuvenate muscle stem cells within aging skeletal muscle. She will also engineer a device with miniaturized human skeletal muscle tissues for compound screening.
