This CRC addresses the future energy challenges in mining industry through a scientifically fundamental and strategic way, reflecting three key perspectives: innovation, HQP training and sustainable development. It will adopt an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to develop new mine energy systems within the following key research themes. Theme 1 aims at developing new ultra-efficient mine energy technologies including waste heat recovery from diesel generators and energy storage techniques. Theme 2 focuses on innovative clean energy systems specific to mining applications emphasizing on replacing diesel based with Liquid Natural Gas. Theme 3 *targets the development of novel geothermal cooling/heating in mines.
