英文摘要
The nature of fundamental quantum mechanical phenomena offers a number of tantalizing possibilities for enhancement of a variety of technologies, such as information processing, computing and spectroscopy. Building on the successes of his first CRC Term, Prof. James will pursue a number of challenging projects that will propel this field toward the next great goals; he will investigate means to demonstrate, for the first time, a quantum computer that surpasses the capability of conventional computers; he will examine quantum effects in other applications of light-matter interaction such as photosynthesis; and he will explore the classical-quantum border.
