The Canada Research Chair in Plant Microbiomes uses cutting-edge environmental DNA *sequencing to study the microbial life living on plants - the plant microbiome. The*proposed research program will study microbes living on plant leaves in boreal,*temperate and tropical forests in order to understand the biogeography of*plant-microbe associations - why and how different microbes colonize the leaves*of different host species, and the importance of these microbes for the growth,*health, and function of their plant hosts and the ecosystems they live in.
