The Canada Research Chair in Plant Microbiomes uses cutting-edge environmental DNA sequencing to study the microbial life living on plants - the plant microbiome. Theproposed research program will study microbes living on plant leaves in boreal,temperate and tropical forests in order to understand the biogeography ofplant-microbe associations - why and how different microbes colonize the leavesof different host species, and the importance of these microbes for the growth,health, and function of their plant hosts and the ecosystems they live in.
