Humanitas is a Canadian company which provides various innovative technologies and products for Internet of**Things (IoT), data analytics, and advanced communications. The company has recently developed several**innovative technologies including IoT manager, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mission planner, and 3D**geographic information system (GIS). Humanitas is currently interested in developing robust wireless**localization techniques to accurately locate mobile devices' locations by exploiting both wireless**communications infrastructure and UAVs. The developed localization techniques will be integrated into the**company's UAV and communications based ecosystem to enable new applications and provide the company a**competitive edge. The company strongly desires to establish the partnership with the NECPHY-Lab through**this NSERC Engage project thanks to the expertise available in the research lab. The objective of this project is**to develop robust and highly accurate mobile localization techniques which leverage both infrastructure based**anchors (i.e., cellular base stations, WiFi access points) and flying UAVs. We plan to develop a two-phase**UAV-assisted wireless location framework which employs the deep learning technique for processing and**estimating the mobile location. Performance evaluation of the developed framework will be conducted and**optimization and calibration of the design will be performed to reach the best design. The data collected during**the project period and the developed software realizing the proposed wireless localization algorithms will be**transferred to the company for being integrated into the company products, which can significantly benefit the**company. The project also enables us to train three HQP in a highly sought-after area.
