One of the greatest uncertainties in forecasting the effects of global *environmental change on ecosystems is related to understanding how it will *affect species interactions such as predation; and the Canada Research *Chair in Polar and Boreal Ecology responds to such need. *The innovative program investigates the role of predator-prey interactions in *mediating climatic impacts on arctic-nesting birds and their predators. In a *second term, the Chair will integrate trophic interactions under direct and *indirect human perturbations into a single framework, strengthening our *understanding of the population dynamics of migratory birds and their *predators.
