英文摘要
Cloud-computing has emerged as a scalable and cost effective platform for delivering digital media content and**has the potential to revolutionize the video gaming industry. In cloud gaming, the computational cost of**rendering the game is moved from the player's gaming device to a remote cloud-server. This enables players to**play games without the need of installing it on their devices. Besides, it makes games available to a larger**group of users by removing the gaming hardware constraint and allows users to access the game using a**simpler setup. However, the main challenge that affects the quality of experience in cloud gaming is the visual**quality of the gaming video rendered on the cloud and streamed to the player over the internet. Under bad**network conditions and bandwidth fluctuations, the gaming video quality degrades due to heavy compression**performed by the video encoder at the cloud. In this research project, we propose an "encoder-friendly"**rendering solution, that will enable the game engine, running on the cloud, to adapt its rendering complexity,**frame rate and frame resolution, so it would improve the quality of video streamed to the player at any network**condition. This will improve game pliability and thus the user quality of experience. The Canadian video game**industry is a significant portion of the Canadian Digital Economy and the emergence of cloud-gaming has the**potential to dramatically improve the gaming experience and thus boost the Canadian video game market even**further.
