Turbulent flows occur in engineering, the environmental and geophysical sciences,*meteorology, and bioengineering; understanding turbulence is therefore critical in these areas. With today's computational power, studying turbulence through computer*simulations has become an increasingly viable alternative to the classical*experimental and theoretical approaches. My research is in Computational Fluid*Dynamics and targets general problems as well as applications in turbulence physics. Working at the interface between fundamental research and engineering applications, my*research aims to yield substantial technological advances based on improved understanding*of the physical phenomena, rather than on ad hoc adjustments to the design of a*device.
