Turbulent flows occur in engineering, the environmental and geophysical sciences,meteorology, and bioengineering; understanding turbulence is therefore critical in these areas. With today's computational power, studying turbulence through computersimulations has become an increasingly viable alternative to the classicalexperimental and theoretical approaches. My research is in Computational FluidDynamics and targets general problems as well as applications in turbulence physics. Working at the interface between fundamental research and engineering applications, myresearch aims to yield substantial technological advances based on improved understandingof the physical phenomena, rather than on ad hoc adjustments to the design of adevice.
