Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is Canada's premier nuclear science and technology (S&T) organization**located in Chalk River, Ontario. CNL's mission is to foster the development of highly qualified people and to**become an enabler of business innovation and technology. The Federal Government is represented among**CNL's customers and supports a multitude of projects across theme areas related to health, safety and security,**and the environment. Within the Radiobiology and Health Branch at CNL, one of the federally funded**research projects currently underway is titled "Space Radiation Dosimetry, Shielding, and Neutron Metrology".**The project commenced in fiscal year 2016/17 and is anticipated to continue to fiscal year 2018/19. The**objectives of the project are to inform and improve Canadian radiation protection guidelines for (1) complex,**high energy radiation environments as encountered in space, and (2) neutron fields encountered in terrestrial**settings such as nuclear power plants. The first objective is currently focused on recommending and developing**radiation dose limits for missions to the Moon and Mars. The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) represents CNL's**Federal Government stakeholder for this effort. The proposed activity to be conducted jointly between Ryerson**University and CNL will shed the light on the latest knowledge related to space radiation.
