Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars have been used instead of steel bars in reinforced concrete bridges since the late 1980's. The main advantage of GFRP over steel is that it does not rust; this leads to lower long-term costs. For this reason, GFRP is becoming more popular for bridge decks and barriers.**However, repair methods for GFRP-reinforced bridge decks and barriers damaged by vehicle collisions are not that well developed compared to those for steel-reinforced bridges. This limits the use of GFRP in some areas of Canada. **Previous tests on GFRP-reinforced bridge decks and barriers focused on undamaged structures. Testing damaged GFRP systems is rare; available research covers a limited set of repair options. Four repair methods for GFRP-reinforced bridge decks and barriers will be tested in this project. The results of these tests will be used to create new design documents for bridge engineers for repairing GFRP-reinforced bridges. Increasing the use of GFRP reinforcement in Canadian bridge decks will lead to longer-lasting decks with lower repair/maintenance costs. This will maximize taxpayer savings on infrastructure and minimize traffic delays due to construction and maintenance.****
