英文摘要
In this proposal we request continuation of the financial support for the Major Resource for the Particle Physics Group at the Université de Montréal (UdeM) and for researchers from other universities and institutions using the facilities offered by the Resource. This infrastructure for particle physics experiments at UdeM regroups facilities supporting the research programs of researchers at Carleton University, University of Guelph, Université Laval, Laurentian University, McGill University, Université de Montréal and TRIUMF. The facilities of the Resource are based on the Groupe Technologique (GT) and consist of an electronics laboratory, machine shop, clean rooms and access to proton, neutron and ion beams delivered by the UdeM Van de Graaff tandem accelerator. These state-of-the art, world class facilities provide the support for construction and R&D for detectors, readout electronics and data acquisition. The list of users includes: the experiments ALPHA, ATLAS, BELLEII, TIGRESS, GRIFFIN, MEDIPIX/TIMEPIX, nEXO, DEAP, PICASSO/PICO, HALO, medical physics research and detector R&D (SiPM). The Resource is also used by researchers from other universities within and outside Canada, worldwide. The Montreal Resource is not standard in the field and not common at Canadian universities and provides an excellent platform and advanced tools for the training of HQP (Posdoctoral Fellows, PhD and MSc students). ******The technical support of the Resource is assured by its highly qualified personnel. The machine shop facility with its state of the art equipment is operated by two technicians specialized in particle physics applications. The electronics laboratory is directed by a senior physicist (PhD), assisted by an electronics technician and an experienced engineer-physicist (PhD). The computing and software support of the Resource is provided by an experienced system manager and physicist (PhD). The Tandem accelerator providing beam access to the sub-atomic physics community is operated and maintained by a dedicated technician trained and specialized in physics measurements and instrumentation. ******In this MRS grant request, we ask for partial support of these infrastructure salaries for a total of $359,455/year for three years. A support of $29,500/year is also requested for materials, supplies and minor equipment needed for the Resource operation and maintenance
