英文摘要
The MRS Resource at Université de Montréal (UdeM) offers access to world-class facilities and expertise that are critical to the research activities of several investigators and experimental programs of the Canadian subatomic physics (SAP) community. Collectively known as the UdeM Resource, it includes a world-renowned electronics laboratory, a specialized machine shop, a Van de Graaff Tandem ion-beam facility as well as access to cleanrooms and a computer cluster. These various aspects of the Resource are inter-related and synergetic to each other. The research program at the UdeM Resource is as vibrant as ever and currently plays an important role for the following research programs, which tackle the most important questions in contemporary SAP: ATLAS, Barium tagging, Belle-II, DUNE, Hyper-K, nEXO, PICO, Project X17, SBC, SuperCDMS, Timepix detectors as well as medical physics. In addition the Resource recently completed projects for the ALPHA, ATLAS-NSW, HALO, TIGRESS and GRIFFIN experiments. The UdeM Resource is unique in the field such that its users come from institutions from all around Canada, such as Carleton University, Laurentian University, McGill University, Queen's University, Université de Montréal, University of Toronto and TRIUMF (as well as other institutions from around the globe). The co-applicants of this grant request constitute a diverse pool of worldwide leaders in SAP. The Resource provides such a good training ground for HQPs that it was designed as the site of the next pan-Canadian Graduate Instrumentation and Detector School (GRIDS), of which the first two editions where held at the TRIUMF national laboratory. The majority of the funds requested serve at supporting the salaries of the highly qualified personnel that operates the Resource. A minor contribution is also requested for materials, supplies and equipments needed for the Resource operation and maintenance. The NSERC MRS program is absolutely critical to be able to maintain the UdeM Resource that has played and continues to play a critical role to support the Canadian SAP research program.
