The inspection of storage tank bottom is a costly endeavor with current technologies. In order to perform theinspection, the tank currently needs to be emptied and scanned using a magnetic-flux leakage scanning system.The main drawbacks of the current method is the cost associated with emptying the tank and the cost of theequipment and training required. This project will investigate the feasibility of using ultrasonic guided waves toscreen storage tank floors from a transduction position on the annual chime. The screening method will identifywhich tanks requires further inspection.
