英文摘要
In regions under severe climatic conditions, the costs for snow removal is considerable and does not stop increasing each year. For the province of Quebec, snow removal costs more than $ 1 billion a year which is a significant budget for a country. Conventional methods currently used to provide mobility in areas with severe winter weather consist mainly of dispersing de-icing salts on roads and sidewalks, as well as removal using mechanical snow shovels. Despite the fact that the use of salts is an effective method for snow and ice removal, they cause damage to concrete and corrosion to reinforcing steel in strategic infrastructure such as bridge decks. In addition, the salts used are not effective at all temperatures. This project aims at fostering the recent promising technology of Electrical Conductive Concrete (ECC) towards the development of prefabricated and control-automated de-icing ECC systems for intelligent cities in northern countries with emphasis on target applications, such as: pavements, cycle tracks and urban furniture
