Just Vertical is a Canadian supplier of indoor agricultural products for household growers. They provide aesthetically pleasing hydroponic systems that are self-contained, sustainable, and designed as furniture to fit your home. Their products are particularly suited for single households and our Canadian climate. Dr. L. Wood at UNBC will research a means for increasing crop yields using an innovative method of CO2 addition to Just Vertical's systems. This study will research resources to help optimize the CO2 delivery system to promote plant growth and improve crop yields. The hope is that the design efficiencies will foster greater growing opportunities for people wanting locally sourced all year round produce. This technology will provide functional all-year-round growing systems that are efficient, sustainable and affordable. Success may also mean underserved areas of Canada, such as the Territories and rural Canadian communities, will have local options for food security and affordable fresh produce not always available. This is an exciting research opportunity to validate a potential emergent technology that may help bring all year round growing conditions for fresh produce right into your living room.
