项目摘要
The goal of this research program is to unravel the physical interactions between Earths crust and mantle during the formation and evolution of the continents. The research will involve innovative inter-disciplinary research with a basis in geochemistry. In addition to developing new methods in in-situ micro-analysis, this research aims to assess the thermal and chemical evolution of the lithospheric mantle underneath ancient cratons, the metasomatism of the mantle by slab-derived fluid, the petrological processes occurring at the crust-mantle boundary underneath the Pamir-Tibetan Plateau. The results will provide an unparalleled view into the processes that shaped the face of Earth.
