This program will develop a new low voltage DC Microgrid infrastructure for light industrial applications. The DC Microgrid will enable more efficient use of renewable energy over current technologies based on AC current. Newly developed electronic devices will use Wide-Band-Gap semiconductors to more efficiently incorporate solar power into the grid and new intelligent devices will coordinate with one another to use less electricity. The system will use techniques like Power-Line Communication and machine learning to provide precise power flow within the Microgrid framework, and will culminate in a DC Microgrid that will be a model of future energy Smartgrid designs.
