英文摘要
Due to a steady growth of the worlds population and higher expectations when it comes to living standards in many parts of the world, there will be a dramatic increase in the demand for energy in the future. At the same time, the availability of fossil fuels is predicted to run short in the foreseeable future. In addition, the consumption of fossil fuels has been proven to have a serious effect on the climate. There is thus a strong need to develop renewable energy sources and this represents one of the greatest challenges in science and engineering today. Material properties are a key factor in the development of new energy devices for energy transformation and storage. This Chair will conduct forefront research in the field of materials as they relate to electrocatalysis and integrate these novel materials and new processing routes to help foster the development of more efficient and more environmentally friendly energy conversion and energy storage devices and technologies.
