My CRC chair has led to innovative research in watershed hydrology that is advancing scientific understanding of water cycling in Canadian Shield watersheds. This work, based in the Sturgeon River-Lake Nipissing-French River (SNF) Watershed, focuses across multiple scales, and couples process-based science with the use of tools such as modeling and stable water isotopes (SWI). Major achievements include the development of the Watershed Analysis Centre, the generation of an extensive regional SWI dataset to characterize sources and transit times of streamflow, and the development and testing of hydrological modeling tools for simulating water quality and quantity.
