Cryosphere Hydrology

陆地冰冻圈（冰川、积雪和冻土）在寒区流域的水文生态中起着重要作用。由于冰冻圈对气候反应迅速，这些地区对气候变化特别敏感。通过专门的实地研究和模拟实验，冰冻圈水文学研究主席将促进我们对寒冷地区气候、冰冻圈和水循环之间相互作用的理解，并帮助预测水文风险和服务即将发生的变化，即人们从生态系统中获得的利益。因此，主席将有助于更好地管理寒冷地区的水资源。

The terrestrial cryosphere (glaciers, snow and frozen ground) plays a preponderant role in the hydrology and ecology of cold region catchments. Since the cryosphere responds quickly to climate these regions are particularly sensitive to climate change. Through dedicated field studies and modelling experiments, the Research Chair in Cryosphere Hydrology will advance our understanding of the interactions between climate, the cryosphere and the water cycle of cold regions and help to anticipate upcoming changes in hydrological risks and services, i.e. the benefits people obtain from ecosystems. As such, the Chair will contribute to better management of water resources in cold regions.
