Regulatory Genomics

A fundamental question in biology is how the information encoded in the genome is accurately interpreted to make the vast diversity of neurons in the mammalian brain required for higher-cognitive function. To properly instruct cell fate decision during neurogenesis, the genome needs to be coordinated at multiple levels and integrate intrinsic and environmental signals to ensure correct expression of genes. The long-term goal of my research program is to address this question, focusing on the translational regulation of the genome. We will define the translational landscape of genome regulation in neurogenesis and dissect the molecular mechanisms underlying this genome regulation.
