英文摘要
Additive Manufacturing (AM) refers to an emerging class of technologies that build 3D objects by the controlled addition of materials in a layer-by-layer fashion to produce objects at or near their final shape. This disruptive technology is forecasted to have a Canadian market for AM products reaching ~$14B/year by 2025 , market to be significant in the aerospace industry, where a series of examples are emerging: commercially used GE LEAP fuel nozzle, Boeing optimised structural brackets, etc. The aerospace industry is leading innovation in AM on several fronts, and significant ongoing research works aimed at understanding the various design-process-microstructure-properties are carried at an accelerated pace worldwide. In this context, the CRIAQ MANU 601 project (Jan 2014 - Dec 2017) has been conducted to quickly develop foundational understanding of laser powder bed fusion and laser wire deposition. During that program, several scientific and technological knowledge gaps were identified. It is in that context that we are proposing this new CRIAQ MANU 1708 project. This project is planned to focus on aspects such as modeling the relationship between defects characteristics and failure, geometrical manufacturing guidelines to better design parts, further refine the relation between part mechanical properties and part built location, to propose a new and more integrated part inspection methodology, and continue the effort in including new lightweight materials. The bulk of the existing research team remains: McGill University, École Polytechnique, CMQ, MDA, HDI, BHTC, BA, PWC, Edmit, and Liburdi, with NRC as a new partner.
