Additive manufacturing (AM) by selective laser fusion on powder bed (LPBF) will increase its industrial growth with the manufacturing of parts that have sensors and maximum topological optimization. A frequent result of topological optimization is the inclusion of thin sections (walls, rods) in the designs. During their manufacturing, these sections have a different thermal evolution, inducing different microstructures which consequently will produce different mechanical responses. It is therefore essential to measure the actual mechanical properties of such sections in parts made by AM, in order to maximize the quality of the design. As a result, AP&C joined the team of Prof. Brochu for the establishment of a research project aimed at studying the mechanical properties of thin samples from parts made by LPBF. The protocols for the mechanical evaluation of such samples developed by the team of Prof. Brochu will be used on heat exchanger sections and mesh structures manufactured by AP&C. This project will make it possible to obtain true values of mechanical tensile and fatigue strength of these sections. The importance of these results is critical for AP&C, firstly to better understand the modalities and particularities of testing on small sample sizes. The second benefit will be to be able to use these results as a design limit, which will allow to have more precise design tools for additive manufacturing.#(cr)#(lf)La fabrication additive (FA) par fusion sélective laser sur lit de poudres (LPBF) augmentera son essor industriel avec la fabrication de pièces qui possèdent des senseurs et une optimisation topologique maximale.
