My research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms that allow animals to cope with stress. Specifically, my research will focus on glucocorticoid signalling, a conserved stress coping pathway, which is essential for all aspects of animal growth and welfare. We have genetically edited zebrafish to elucidate the mechanisms involved in stress coping by deleting stress-related genes. These knockout models will allow us to identify emerging contaminants targeting the stress axis and reducing animal fitness. My lab will also determine the mechanisms leading to long-term and multigenerational impacts on stress and growth performances in response to developmental exposure to environmental contaminants.
