Computational materials modelling applies high performance computing to a wide range of problems from predicting materials detailed structures and their changes in physics to cellular process in biology, controlled cancer drug release using laser light, and to properties of artificial joints and even harvesting energy from sunlight. Thus, development of reliable, quantitative, predictive and fast computer simulations is an absolute necessity for obtaining quantitative predictions. As a Canada Research Chair, my research program will produce cutting edge research in all of these identified areas through the development of new modelling methods and algorithms.
