Objectives of my research are to: 1) elucidate the role of mutation, duplications and deletions in regenerating genome stability after a whole genome duplication; 2) understand the role of gene duplication in the generation of increased species specialization and diversification as well as health, and disease; 3) explore new technologies, strategies, and computer analyses in genetic systems and relate them to biochemical and physiological functions. Research will target salmonid re- diploidization, biodiversity, and functional complexity, with particular emphasis on the immune system and genes associated with temperature tolerance, sex determination, disease and health.
