英文摘要
The consequence of poor bone health is ever-present for Canadians. We all know of family or friends who cannot hold a grandchild due to chronic pain from vertebral compression fractures, who experience a loss of independence due to limited mobility and physical function, and are at increased risk of anxiety and depression due to these social and functional limitations. This research program primarily uses preclinical models to develop dietary strategies, sometimes in combination with drug therapies, that may support development and maintenance of a strong skeleton throughout life. Stronger bones prevent debilitating fragility fractures, improving quality of life of Canadians.
