My objectives are to improve continental hydrologic prediction in high-latitude regions, and to promote the understanding of hydrologic change in Canada. I propose to invest in new data monitoring networks, develop novel integrated modelling tools, and model the impacts of climate and human-driven change at the freshwater-marine interface. The uniqueness of my work lies in using state-of-the-art modelling systems to disentangle the cumulative effects of natural climate impacts and human intervention on ecosystems. Coupling of hydrologic and marine system models will facilitate better understanding of the role of freshwater in the pan-Arctic and subsequent driving mechanisms of marine system circulation.
