Recent global developments related to climate change suggest an imminent and significant energy systems transition. Current research on the economic and environmental assessment of new energy technologies uses individual assessment techniques that often fail to capture the complexities of a technology's life cycle. The objective of this Canada Research Chair is to advance the assessment of energy technologies by developing novel simulation tools, extension of life cycle assessment methods and dynamic systems modelling. New insights into economic and environmental performance of emerging energy technologies will better inform decisions about infrastructure and research investment.
