Regulators and industry are faced with the challenge of assessing the risks associated with the ever-increasing number of chemicals used in society, while simultaneously reducing cost, animal use and time required for testing. The research proposed represents a significant step towards addressing these challenges by generating novel and improved approaches for the assessment of the risks posed by contaminants to wildlife and human health. The research will establish quantitative predictive toxicity models (quantitative Adverse Outcome Pathways) that fuse novel omic (transcriptomic and proteomic) and traditional ecotoxicology technologies. It will provide information critical for the protection of water resources that are directly linked to human and environmental health.
