Technological needs are numerous and can be found in various applications: the general public (home theatre systems, portable multimedia players), the automobile and the medical sector (e.g. hearing aids). From the point of view of digital signal processing, the main work required to achieve the high quality listening experience is to reduce the effect of interference, crosstalk, non-linearity of the loudspeakers and other distortions in the amplification, propagation and listening receiver (microphone or auditory). The project brings together three companies, partner Simaudio and collaborators Arteluthe and Boreal Acoustics, all working together to develop know-how and innovations for improving sound listening in high-performance audio systems. The main objective of this project is the development of innovative methods for improving listening and sound immersion in the high-performance audio systems of industrial partners. This project presents several original and innovative aspects, including dynamic and non-linear methods to address the major challenges of complex dynamic and non-linear systems presented by the listener. Based on the know-how accumulated for many years at the Laboratoire de signaux et systèmes intégrés of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and its collaborations, the proposed algorithms will increase the quality of listening and will ensure that partners achieve technological breakthroughs that distinguish them from the competition. The results will be used by partner companies to refine their R & D know-how and to market new products. Students involved in the project will participate in discussions with partners at all stages of the project development.
