The proposed Technology Access Centre for Oil Sands Sustainability (TACOSS) encompasses three servicethemes: 1) facilitating Access to Technical Experts and Infrastructure, such as specialized facilities, and oilsands experts in oil sands practice; 2) bringing our Knowledge to Practice through engagements such as shortcourses and workshops; and 3) enhancing Business Synergy by catalyzing connectivity between technologydevelopers and potential users. Technical specialties of the TAC will include: Tailings Technology, ProcessWater Treatment, Mining Extraction and Efficiency, and Process Optimization through Measurement. TheTAC will provide access to specialized research and analytical facilities, including large-scale pilotingfacilities, for use in the development of new technologies. It will also enable the deployment of existing andnew technologies to oil sands practitioners through the continued development of specialized trainingengagements with world renowned collaborators, support the HQP development of industry practitionerswith enhanced knowledge on process optimization to increase environmental and economic sustainability, aswell as provide a platform for connecting new technology developers and vendors, including SMEs andindigenous owned enterprises. Target clients include oil sands companies and developers of new technologiesin the tailings, water treatment, chemical analysis systems and extraction additives areas.
