英文摘要
Disposable and compostable paper plates from the Royal Chinet brand are world famous. Although they areavailable in several sizes from 6.75 to 12 inches, it is the size 8½ inches which is the most sold by CKF Inc. Inorder to offer its customers even more efficient products, CKF would like to assess the potential of a new typeof raw material. In this project, CKF answers the market demand for strong and lightweight ecological dinnerplates, by developing and optimizing a Bleached Chemi-Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (BCTMP) recipe. Thisrecipe is expected to increase the rigidity (stiffness) of CKF's 8½-inch diameter dinner plate, whiledemonstrating attractive surface properties and productive manufacturing parameters on industrial scale pulpthermoforming process. The project will have to demonstrate, from a process point of view, a profitable use ofthis Canadian raw material. The characteristics of this pulp will influence formation time, drainage, drying oreven the print quality of the plates, which wil have a significant influence on the process performance.
