项目摘要
The St. Lawrence College research team and QC Integrated, a medical electronics company located in Kingston, Ontario, are partnering to develop a testing apparatus for electrosurgical equipment.QC Integrated builds and develops automated testing platforms for quality control/assurance of Electrocardiograph (ECG) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) systems. This research project involves the development of a test system for the quality assessment of patientreturn electrodes used during high-frequency electrosurgery medical procedures. The Applied Research Group at St. Lawrence College (SLC) will lead this initial development effort. SLC Researchers and undergraduate students from the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technologist (ICET) and Energy Systems Engineering Technologist (ESET) programs would support QCI technical staff in this collaborative project. The development of a rapid testing device for electrosurgery equipment will help ensure the high-quality results of this equipment and reduce calibration costs for end-users. As more surgical procedures incorporate electrosurgical equipment into their practice, the need for rapid calibration equipment will grow.
