Current modular building designs use a cast steel connector called VectorBloc for its intermodular connection.This cast steel connector enables high precision in the installation, however, this connector relies on highstrength socket head cap screws (SHCS) for vertical connection. This research aims at developing aself-connecting connection in the VectorBloc connector to eliminate the use of high strength cap screws.Specifically, this project will design, fabricate, test, and develop a self-connecting cast steel connection formodular steel buildings. The outcome will help eliminate the use of SHCS which require an expensive anddifficult preloading process while helping the construction industry increase efficiencies of builds.
