NSCC Applied Energy Research will work in partnership with Rayleigh Solar Tech, a startup company based in Halifax, to design and build a prototype of an affordable, high throughput perovskite solar cell lifetime testing apparatus. Perovskite photovoltaic (PV) cells are a new kind of solar electricity generating cell that is lightweight, low-cost, and flexible. Use of perovskite in solar power generation can open up new opportunities for renewable electricity in the global energy transition. The system NSCC and Rayleigh Solar Tech are building together is for testing the output of the perovskite cells under simulated solar radiation and long-term use. This testing system will be used by Rayleigh Solar Tech to improve the output and longevity of perovskite PV cells.
