The strange features of quantum mechanics promise to serve as the foundation for powerful technological advances, particularly in computing and communication. Quantum states of light will be the engine enabling many of these technologies. In this Canada Research Chair renewal request, Resch proposes three interrelated streams of research to bring optical quantum technologies closer to reality. Entangled Photon Sources will develop single emitter technologies for the new standard in quantum light generation; Single-Photon Time Lensing will exploit nonlinear optics for new methods of controlling light; and exploring Generalized Probability Theories will test quantum theory as never before.
