Among the greatest challenges facing biologists today are the conservation and effective management of biodiversity in the face of climate change and environmental degradation. How do species respond or adapt to environmental changes? As Canada Research Chair in Evolutionary Mitochondrial Biology, Dr. Breton and her team will address this global challenge with an innovative approach that integrates cutting-edge technologies in ¿omics¿, physiology and cell biology to better understand the importance of mitochondria in promoting adaptation to environmental changes. By unravelling the links between environment and mitochondrial (epi)genotype-phenotype, this research will shed new light on our understanding of the living world.
